Before I get to the details about my opinions about this film, I'm gonna make one thing clear and according to the ratings, this shouldn't be a "Rated R" film because don't get me wrong, there's some scenes on sexual content, but in my opinion, it's mild and there's no nudity involved either.
About this film, Heath Ledger had another outstanding performance other than BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN. The supporting cast of Sienna Miller, Oliver Platt, Jeremy Irons, and Lena Olin were also outstanding as well. The theme of this film is "deceit," as shown in Heath Ledger's character who's out to find the woman that he wants to marry, but one woman refuses his charms and is willing to prove that he can change her mind.
Other than the plot, what I also like about this film are the art direction of the setting and the costumes used in this film to make the plot more appropriate and make sense. It helps you understand the history of Italy.
If you like romantic films in the past, this film is definitely for you. |
