NOT!!!
You have got to be kidding me. We get to watch two people that supposedly love each other argue throughout a movie, get their friends to pick sides, and then become emotional wrecks and somehow Vince Vaughn, Jennifer Aniston, the producer, and director think this would be a funny concept? Admitedly, I've never thought Jennifer Aniston was a great actress (but she's likable enough). I can only assume she thought this would be a great role for her since she just went through a painful divorce herself, so the acting would come naturally. And of course these two are currently romancing themselves so it only make sense that they should take roles like this? Sorry, still hitting my head against the wall trying to understand the logic of all this. Throughout the majority of this movie, you could hear a pindrop in our auditorium (I think we were all waiting for the funny parts....they were few and far between). Personally, the only group of people that I could see giving this movie an "A" are those people that just got screwed on their own divorce and are using this movie as an outlet so that every time Vince or Jennifer say something that they think really "gives it good" to the other side, they can say...."yeah, that's one for the boys (or girls)". As for myself, I have been married for 22 years (a lifetime for most people) and probably in the top 10% of married people. My wife and I have certainly had painful times through it all but got through our struggles with the love we feel for one another. The only thing this movie did was conjure up all the tough times we've had (and sorry folks, neither of us find those amusing). This movie is not funny in any way and certainly not a good "date" movie. If I could turn back the hands of time, I would not go to see it (and I will not be watching it again when it comes to cable...didn't appreciate the humor the first time around and certainly won't the second). Very sad. |
