The Lady in the Water is definitely one of the most creative films I have seen in a very long time from Hollywood. The only reason I can see that the critics seem to have panned it, is that they expected a "spooky" horror picture and instead got a parable full of hope and heart with messages about the value of each person and that together each of our talents can come together for good. The cinematography was excellent, setting a mood of quiet desperation mixed with fear throughout the movie. If you go to this expecting a chiller full of gore you will be disappointed. If you go expecting a cleverly told story with deeper meaning you will be delighted! |
