Having been a big fan of the 1995 miniseries with Colin Firth, I went into this film prepared for the worst. But I was happily surprised by this retelling. It has a bit more liveliness to it than other versions. There is a bit more open emotion and disorganization (ie the parties, etc) that make this feel a bit more real, which was nice.

Although I cannot say it is better than the BBC miniseries (Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle are hard to compete with as they set the bar so high), it definately has some nice qualities that make it a close second. It doesn't have the length so naturally you lose some bits, but they managed to work with their timeframe and still pull off the essence of P&P. Not like some others I've seen. (bride and prejudice... bah!)
This one is worth the watch.
