Pulse tells global, cultural stories through sound and movement, rather than dialogue. The film takes viewers around the world on a rhythmic journey, leaving just enough space and time for reflection on implicit themes such as the definition of music, the commonalities of diverse cultures, and human passion. Rhythm, movement, timing and music are the main characters here, and Pulse makes a compelling case for rhythm as a cross-cultural common ground. The intense visuals and finely recorded audio merge into a nearly overwhelming sensory experience. Some people left the theater mumbling "Weird." I left uttering, "Wow." |
