This movie kept me entranced with awe beginning with the opening scene and ending with the credits. For those of you who read Roger Hebert's review of the film, discard any memory of his opinion. He doesn't know his HEAD from his ASS, much less what it's like to come from a less fortunate background against the types of odds the teens overcame in the film and in real life. I disagree with Roger Hebert because I feel that the story was basically parallel to the documentary. In my opinion, the only flaws of the movie include its PG-13 rating instead of an R rating, because the audience would be able to better witness the true struggles with drugs, sex, and fighting that the Z-Boyz experienced.
The soundrack brought me into their world, and the acting was extraordinary. Emile Hirsch gave a great performance as the ballsey troubled teen named Jay Adams, as did Keith Ledger in the portrayal of the hedonistic marijuana and alcohol indulgent Skip. After watching the movie, I rushed home and hopped on my skateboard. I guess i was inspired. Go see this movie!!!! |
