Tony Scott (Man On Fire, True Romance) has created another action packed, movie and gives it life with a brain and a heart.
Screenwriter Richard Kelly (Donnie Darko) produces another complex (perhaps to complex for some moviegoers) and intense script. He also produces a good amount of humor in the script that allows the viewer to like, and hate certain characters with ease. With the Addition of a Hilarious scene featuring the Jerry Springer Show, and 90210 cast members playing an exaggerated version of themselves (Brian Austin Green, Ian Ziering) he brings in familiarity and nostalgia to lighten up the films heavy plot. He makes very unidentifiable people (bounty hunters) very easy for the audience to identify with. Richard Kelly proved his depth as a screenwriter as he produced a script completely different from his sleeper hit Donnie Darko, and yet of the same quality.
Keira Knightley (POTC, Doctor Zvhiago, King Arthur) is one of the fastest rising stars in film today. Yet unlike most of the actresses her age (20) she is very serious about her craft. Two years ago moviegoers saw her play a tom boyish soccer play in the sleeper family comedy hit Bend It Like Beckham. In Domino she plays the part of real life Domino Harvey a former BountyHunter. Next Month (Nov 18th) she will be playing the part of Elizabeth Bennett in the Film Adaptation of the Classic book Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. How's that for diversity? Domino features her best feature film performance to date. She brings credibility, heart, and intensity to the character as well as the film. With Keira Knightley continuing to show great depth as a person as well as an actress she will continue to become a bigger, and bigger star.
Mikey Rourke, Brian Austin Green, Christopher Walkin, Jacqueline Bissett and newcomer Edgar Ramirez all add in great performances. They all make the film stand out in a huge way as not just another action film.
Domino is not a movie for everyone as it may be a bit too intense for some in terms of sexuality, and violence. However for most thrill seekers Domino is a action packed movie that will constantly keep you entertained and intrigued. A remarkable rarity for that genre, and one not to be missed. |
