Cute for the whole family!

This movie was a pleaser for our 3 year old (who's attention it kept the whole time!), my husband, (who is not a movie goer) and I. It's been a few years since I have read the book, but they have done an excellent job recreating it and giving each of the characters the personalities that I loved so much when I was younger. Each of them were done so well, by the end of the movie each of us had a different favorite charcter.
Our 3 year old of course fell in love with Wilbur. He was so cute, little and pink...you can't help but love him. His little voice is adorable too. My husband thought the crows were a riot (I don't remember them in the book...but they were a great comedic addition). The crows spent the movie trying to get corn but this "man" (a scarecrow) "followed" them from field to field. My personal favorite was Templeton. They were consistent with the book in the sense that he was portrayed as selfish and a rat...but adding the voice of Steve Buscemi adds a whole different dimension. He adds a humor that I don't remember in the book.
As far as the storyline, it follows along with the book. Wilbur is a runt and Fern doesn't allow her dad to kill him. She is allowed to raise him at her uncle's farm across the street. When Christmas draws near, there is question of if Wilbur will be Christmas dinner. In efforts to save him, his new found friend Charlotte gets the idea to weave words describing him into her web. It works for awhile..but will it be enough to save Wilbur ffrom being Chritmas dinner? You'll have to go see it to find out! |
