This is the first film I have seen in years that has no violence, foul language, or sex. It is very a moving film about the struggles of unknown people, to become great. Gerard Butler (The Phantom of The Opera, Dear Frankie) is excellent, as usual in his portrayal of goalie Frank Borgi. He is charming, charismatic, and commanding. You cannot take your eyes off of him, and it is not just becuase of his good looks. Butler is accompanied by a great cast including long time film veteran John Rhys Davies (Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings Trilogy). Wes Bentley is superb as the team captain Walter Bahr. A suprisingly good performance was given by Gavin Rossdale (the lead singer of the band Bush),as the snobish captain of the English team Stanley Mortenson. All round a very memorable tale. |
