The second I heard that Steve Carell was making this movie I knew I had to see it. Steve Carell was hilarious in Anchorman, and in the 40 year old virgin, he proves that he is very capable of carrying a lead role.
Carell plays Andy, a 40 year old comic book nerd who works at a electronics store and rides a bike. So suprisingly, at 40, hes still a virgin. So, his friends at the electronics store all help out to try and get him to have sex.
This movie is hands down, the funniest movie of the year, or the decade maybe. I probably laughed more within the first 20 minutes of this movie, then I have all year. This movie somehow manages to be, outright, raunchy, hillarious, too subtle, and romantic. Steve Carell is HILLARIOUS as Andy, and Catherine Keener is great as Trish.
This movie is an instead comedy classic. The theatre I was in was jam packed, and evryone was laughing their heads off. I left the theatre with tears streaming out of my eyes due to my magnitude of laughing during the ending sequence. There was about a dozen other sequences taht had me practically in tears, like when Andy tries to put on a condom, and when a drunk women tires to drive him home.
The 40 year old Virgin, is by far the BEST comedy of the year. Steve Carell is hillarious and the movie is raunchy, outrageous, sweet and charming. This is a movie definately worth seeing, and I do plan to buy it. I 100% recommend this movie for any one, whos looking for a great night out.
