Living in Australia, I had the luxury of seeing this film on the big screen (where it belonged). Australian actors are the best ones on the world and that is very much justified by Geoffrey Rush's magnificent performance, which deserves an oscar but is ineligible unfortunately. Rush always takes on such interesting characters andfilms and this is his best performance sice the great australian film, 'Shine', which won him the oscar that year it was released. Charlize Theron and John Lithgow among others, are also excellent in support roles, and the shots of old movie sets and Sellers' magic of improvisation was captured flawlessly. I loved this film, and will definitely purchase the dvd. |
