My 8 and 5 year old have been begging me to take them to see Moster House. On the commericals, it seems like a cute kids movie...WRONG! My first mistake was not checking reviews and my second was choosing the 3D show time.
Don't get me wrong, I am not a prude and my children are not shelterd. Most of the movies that they see are PG or PG-13...however, when my 5 year old is on tears (literally) and begging me to take her home within the first 10 mins and my 8 year old is agreeing, I knew we had picked the wrong movie for "family night". The rating should be more than PG.
Also, this movie contains themes not suitable for smaller children: starts with the little boy thinking he murdered his neighbor, said neighbor being wheeled out on a stretcher (try explaining that to a 5 year old), teens drinking, stoner boy friend groping the baby sitter, the house being possessed (not haunted but possessed) by the spirit of the old man's wife who he is accused of murdering and eating (and these things don't usually bother me).
I know have my kids sleeping in my room with a light on - thanks alot Monster House!!!
DO NOT recommend for those with small children unless you want to share your room tonight. |
