great movie for a family who enjoy's TV

After reading all the negative reviews,(which there aren't too many of), I understand who will and won't like this film. I brought a 5 year old, who closed his eyes the first 2 times the house was in action. But after I told him it was nothing but loud noise he watched the rest without any problems and in fact laughed every time the house did something. There was no blood! No gore, just loud noises.
While the story was predictable, I enjoyed watching it all play out.
For the haters. Babysitters acting like teenagers is normal. Teenage boyfriends coming over and causing trouble is normal. And he get's dumped for being an idiot also! While I admit the doll scene was not normal, I could see an older brother doing something like that just for kicks. And didnt a movie called toy story have a kid named sid? G rated!
The reason I bring up TV in the title is because all this stuff happens on TV. INCLUDING the all-time family shows like 7th heaven. All their kids did something. ET the movie had divorce subject matter, a kid grabbing at a mothers behind, and a child acting drunk and horny.
While I realize parents feel a need to shelter children from what happens in real life (where no one is perfect), I feel it's better to teach rights and wrongs and making the child understand why it's wrong. Did your kids say' mom can I have a beer' , most don't even notice it. I'm not going to tell america how to raise children.
But the preview plays it as a scary movie, the rating information tells you it's scary, and says crude humor. |
