Much better than the First one....

Well it looks like I may be the first one to post a review on here. Cool. Let me start off by saying that I enjoyed the first film fro what it was. A decent action flick with lots of Vampire on Werewolf violence. Not to much to the story but yet enjoyable. I mean whou wouldnt enjoy Kate run around in black leather tights for 2 hours? After seeing the first one I kinda was in the mood to see a sequel. Would make for an interesting trilogy. Going into tonight I began to doubt the decentcy of this film. I was quickly surprised as to how good the story for this film was. I'm not going to bore you with a synopsis of what the movie circles around, as most of you all might have already read. Underworld: Evolution continues the saga of war between the aristocratic Death Dealers and the barbaric Lycans (werewolves). The film started off taking you back to the ruling of Vincent (the elder ruler slain in the first one by Selena). The story then quickly takes you to the present time where Selena and Michael are looking for a decent hiding place to stay out of view of the people that are trying to hunt them down. You quickly learn that there is more to the betrayle than you were lead to belive throughout the first film. The history surounding the pendant that Michael had in his posession from the head Lycan from the first film. The pendant was actually a key to unlock a Lycan who has been trapped for centuries. A Lycan that is more powerful than any other Lycan in history. The Lycans brother happens to be a Vampire who aided Vincent in his capture. Throught the story the revised Vampire sets out to unlock his captive brother and start a new breed of evil that has never been atempted before. Michael also begins to learn the abilities that he possesses for being a hybred. The story then clashes to a dramatic fight sequence between two vampires and two powerful Lycans (one being Michael).
This film in my opinion had so much more to offer than the first one did. The story was smooth and never left you guessing, not to mention that the action in this one makes the 1st film look terrible. The battle sequences left us applauding and screaming in joy. I mean hell come on its Kate.
I was truly surprised of the outcome of this film. Seeing Michael revive after being stabed in the stomache, to jump in the battle to aid Selena was fantastic. I havent seen a sequel top its original in quite some time, and I was thouroughly satisfied. This film left me wanting to see a 3rd film and judging by the ending, it appears that they just might deliver. This is a definete film to see this weekend. |
