My two companions, though they laughed themselves silly, wanted "darker," but I want to see Kiss Bang again. I want to hear every word of Downey's lightening paced, delicious dialog. I want to savor every moment of Kilmer's suave brilliance. Yeah, there are things that don't quite come together -- and the ending isn't as snappy as it could have been -- but what works WORKS! In fact, I'm tempted to buy it when it's released on DVD.
Though Shane Black's writing is at times too "Lethal Weapon-esque" for my taste, he can be outrageously witty, and fiendishly imaginative. I don't want to give anything away, but the scene with the dog is outstanding. And that adorable Michelle (foget last name) saving the day in her sexy, silly Santa outfit was delightful. But, it's Robert and Val's movie--and they are a dream team! To Black's credit, he knows how to direct these actors--I suspect it's by staying out of their way. If your sense of humor is slightly warped, and you are as smitten with Downey and Kilmer as I, you gotta see Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Enjoy! |
