The style of the movie is very interesting. Downey is great. Really funny. I can only surmise that the promotion of the film is why is has been so disasterous financially. At times the directing and flow of the film was a bit choppy, but it was a good script and for the most part very well executed. I had a very original and fresh feel to it. Much like the movie "snatch" did at its time. I took my 84 year old dad to the film and he liked it very much. The subplot to the story re the younger sister, I think put a dark spin on an otherwise funny film as that was a tough subject. Perhaps that is the reason that commercial acceptance is minimal; a comedy, mystery but with a terrible reality mixed in.. Dont know. I guess that Silver has delt with many tough topics in his Leathal weapon movies, however I dont feel that in those films the difficult subject matter was as prominently featured.. Dont know.. But its a really enjoyable film. Go see it.. You will have fun. |
