All I can say (as an educator) is that I am very concerned about the level of intelligence and mentality of many of the adverse reviewers of this fine movie. This movie makes the valid point that there are no "good guys" in the corrupt, greedy world of high-oil politics. The oil industry now dominates the Bush Administration and our foreign policy to the detriment of the characters in the film in particular and the US public in general. Instead of developing alternative technologies and energy sources, we are all forced to fall in step behind the wealthy, don our combat gear, fo to the Gulf and defend their (nor our) interests. The movie presents its points like a Tom Clancy novel. Perhaps many of the adverse reviewers have never read Clancy, but no one who has read him would think that he doesn't use the same parallel story lines that the movie uses. No one would call Tom Clancy anti-American, anti-military, or anti-CIA.
I see many of these reviewers talking patriotic trash, and as a vet myself, I would advise them to stop talking, put on their desert BDUs, draw their basic load of 200 rounds of 5.56mm ammo, and clip on their frags and go fight in Iraq. That's the only way I would ever respect them. Furthermore, these Young Republican stormtroopers seem to be fanning out and dissing any movie that is critical of the present, stupid foreign policies of the "chicken hawks" of the present Bush administration. All real Americans should defend their right to dissent to the death. |
