I was honestly surprised to see the DVD on store shelves since I hadn't heard of the movie being released, but then it turns out it was a TV movie. Nonetheless, it is a magnificent effort to say the least. A little sugary at times, but overall extremely well acted out. I especially liked the relationship between the lead actors, even when one of them is shown to be clearly a lot younger. I personally thought it got a bit predictable towards the end, but then again it is an adaptation from the book, so wouldn't be reasonable to expect surprises. It's even got it's share of violence for the gun-happy crowd.
Lastly, stunning visuals and very vivid colors. I highly recommend the movie, it'll make you think at least a little bit about the larger picture... |
