I gave this movie an A+ because I have been in her shoes. I was married to a Red Sox fanatic and the way it is portrayed in this movie was perfect and a great telling of exactly how it is to be an "outsider".
The one thing that I didn't like, or rather missed seeing in the movie itself, was the scene on the trailer with Drew and Fallon at the bar when Drew's character 'Lindsay' loudly states that it's "Only a game" I've been there, I've been the one that has said that, and have gotten the odd and nasty looks as a result. Sadly, it was not in the released movie.
Drew's portrayal of the 'outsider' dating a fanatic of the Red Sox was perfect. Things she said and did I could relate to having been there myself. It was absolutely amazing.
Jimmy's portrayal of the Red Sox fanatic was perfect to a 'T'. I hate to say it, and I'm sure that there are fanatics out there that will deny it through their teeth, but I know for a fact that a Sox fan has rooms upon rooms decked out to their favorite team. Heck my ex's entire family had their houses done out with towels and sheets, and well, other than the pictures of past players being different, everything that they had set up in Fallon's characters' room.
It's absurd I know, but that is how the fans of the Red Sox are.
The movie in full was a good comedy. I highly recommend everyone who likes to have a good laugh to go and see it. Drew is always at her best when doing comedies. |
