Well, let's be straight-forward about this.. The cinemetography is impressive, the acting is wooden, the story is predictable, the underwater action sequences are well-done and Jessica Alba's deliciously tan, tone body needs an avenue to be exploited. This role is perfect for her in that sense; she is perfection in motion as she strolls around in her two-piece through much of the film. Make no mistake, this film is not a date movie. Sure, Paul Walker provides some eye-candy for the females but this guy has never had a hit movie not named "the fast and the furious" and without Jessica Alba, this would be no exception. The fact is that Jessica Alba is building a strong male fan base around her flawless deep-dark skin, megawatt smile,sultry lips and a body that will cause men and women alike to leave the theater crying. Going forward, it is hard to say how much success Jessica Alba will have. She will have a likeability problem with women, to be sure. Women are not bothered as much by beauty that they are able to find some flaw with. However, flawless beauty presents a problem, as that is the perfection that every man fantasizes about and that women would have you believe does not truly exist. Jessica Alba is the anithesis to that argument. She is Jennifer Lopez's younger, better looking sister with the 'real' perfect ass. Can she act? Who knows. Will anyone ever care? I mean, before Britney Spears got pregnant did anyone care (by anyone, I mean men) if she could sing. It didn't stop her from being the biggest pop sensation in 20 years. |
