I don't care how it looks in the trailers, this isn't a movie for small children - or even medium sized ones. The movie is so leisurely paced that a better title might have been "March of the Children" as the entire move they were up and down and chitchatting. Not to mention the scense of death and sex - and the excrutiatingly painful explanations parents felt they had to immediately smooth over.
Having said that, and not being a child myself - I thought the movie itself was small scale enchanting...funny, touching and fascinating. The stuff of documentaries that you see on Discovery Channel - which is exactly where it should have been shown. One of the best parts of the movie is the outtakes at the end which show how they got the movie filmed. That story would have been just as interesting. (Most of the parents with childrem missed it as the made a mass exodus for the door the minute the credits started rolling.) |
