Intense, trippy, funny, visually stimulating and thought provoking, this film has it all. Linklater captures the essense of Philip K. Dick's work at the highest level. This film is not like BladeRunner, Total Recall or Minority Report (and thankfully not at all like Paycheck) but in the realm of "different" sci-fi it's at the highest level. A mind trip, not a mindless waste. Superb acting - Robert Downey Jr. and Woody Harelson are spectacular. The animation technique only adds the to the feel of the film. Skip "Pirates" and go for the intelectual and amazing ride of this one instead. |
