If you go out to see any movie at the cinema this halloween, make sure you see Tim Burton`s Corpse Bride. The movie is absoluetly magnificent in many ways, from the stop-motion claymation (characters created using clay, and enhanced with digital animation) to the spooky songs that are always featured in a wide repetoir in Tim Burton films.
The film`s beginning is not a secret, I`m sure you have all seen it in the theatrical trailers. So I will breifly desribe the intro, Victoria has a poor family with a huge social life, Victor has a rich family with a poor social life.So the families get what they want while Victor & Victoria get what they want? (Now does anyone ever get what they want this early into a Tim Burton Film?), I`d say NO!...Victor gets the wedding gibbles and runs off far away from the church. While in some dark spooky woods he places his wedding ring on a vine that actually turns out to be the corpse bride whom was left at the alter many many years ago.
Confused and startled by her appearance, Victoria is dragged to the depths of the underworld where he learns that while the early 19th century is as lame as death, the world of the dead is very lively. However the world of the dead takes on some-what of a 'Jazz-style', with the majority of the skeletons and other things living in the underworld taking a liking in Jazz music and styles. While everything is go happily underground, above ground Victoria is scheduled to marry a new husband, this one sharing the same wealth as her. While Victor`s parents await for their son`s return, he is having a heck of a time with the corpse bride in the land of the dead.
The movie touches upon the romance part of this film very well. With an ending you wouldn`t have expected, as there is a final wedding, but with whom?If I told you that I would spoil the ending, and I`m not going to do that :) I hope you all enjoyed this review, and I hope you enjoy the film too :)
Happy Early Halloween!
