As I walked quietly through Blockbuster one evening, observing each new release intently as I always do, I came across a film I'd wanted to see for a while. The Ballad of Jack and Rose. To my dismay, all of the copies were gone. I returned later the next week to check again, and I rented it. This is a very good film, with strong performances from Daniel Day-Lewis and newcomer, Camilla Belle. It tells the story of a young girl and her father, who share an unusually close bond. He has been ill for quite some time, and has now invited his girlfriend and her two sons to live with them. This, ofcourse, causes problems for Rose. It is a touching story, with a tragic ending. Tissues are REQUIRED for this one. It takes a lot for me to bawl, and believe me, I did. I hope this quickly written review helps you in your decision to view it. |
