Happy Endings is the smartest comedy around. The story (even if reminiscent of previous Don Roos output) is interesting enough without stealing the focus from the characters of the story. Their pain feels so truthful is somehow uncomfortable. Impecable performances by Lisa Kudrow, Bobby Ritter, Laura Dern, Bobby Cannavale; if you thought you had seen the best of Maggie Gyllenhal think again and if you think you hadn't seen anything good by Tom Arnold, here's your chance.

Now, what surprises me the most is that critics seem unfazed by this movie and then go ahead and rave about one-joke-films like Wedding Crashers and the 40 year old virgin. It makes me wonder if the payola code of values has extended to the film reviewing industry.

Warning: This is story requires an open mind from the viewer, so if that's not you're case you don't know what you're missing!
