Saw a couple of months ago and it wasn't really simply movie to enjoy in that the director places some good & distasteful ideas in it. But the plot itself has some flaws(even though the acting is quite good), and mediocre sybolism and rootless anger and violence kill the movie.
The movie imports images heavily from other movies; most likely movies by Wes Craven and Ridly Scott. Probably, the director needs to put aside the influence and gift we(or they) usually take it for granted. That's one of the easy misunderstandings what most movie directors today make, I think.
It is edited okay considering the short budget, but I still believe it could be better if there was some insightful explanation what people in the movie struggle for. It's not really fair just to say that the movie has a lot of riddles inside, so come and solve. I didn't see any of them but mindless and meangingless conflicts happening in underground. |
