This is a funny, unpretentious family film that clearly targets young and older folks alike who want to see a tough guy taken out of his natural element, caused to re-think his instincts, adapt to the new environment, and find that in the end the instincts have their value so long as they are motivated by a good heart. Throughout, we chuckle, we laugh, and we leave thinking that if (fill in a name for your favorite tough guy) could find a way to soften his smile and still fight the good fight, maybe there is something to this business of seeing life's bright side, after all.
We've seen similar films - "Urban Commando" was one, "First Kid" another, and "Kindergarden Cop" a third - each placing a tough guy in an unlikely venue, facing a totally new form of challenge. And in each film, we got to see the warmer, brighter side of strength and honor, which teaches us all something about life.
See this movie, and smile a bit afterwards. |
