a film that's sort of a remake...but isn't

If you are expecting a reverse remake of "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" then don't. This film turns out to be more about a man meeting his girl's parents than it is about black and white issues, though they do complicate matters. This film is a cross between "Meet the Parents" and "48 Hours".

That being said, I admit that I did find this movie very humorous and I was laughing consistently. Bernie Mac and Ashton Kutcher do work well together to deliver the punches and have great sense of comedic timing. Zoe Saldana is good in her supporting role as well.

The story itself isn't really that original or profound but it does present a positive message...which isn't new but can't really hurt being repeated. There's also a couple of well timed plot revelations in the movie to its credit.
However, it just seems that this movie could've done so much more with the setup but didn't.

Overall, I must say that I was personally diappointed with this movie. It's a good movie, don't get me wrong, still worth seeing for the laughs, but...just...not that great movie I was hoping for. So you can take your family (teens and older) out for a good time with this movie and as long as you aren't expecting anything profound or exceptional, you'll enjoy it.

PS. Bernie Mac can sing, Ashton Kutcher cannot....I certainlly hope he was just acting there.
