Ever since the first trailers of this movie i was pretty much convinced that this movie was going to be a good and smart action thriller movie. It was a good movie but the thrills and action were almost completly left out! Two oscar winners and great actors can only mean some tears and throat gulping sences of sadness, and thats what this movie was ment to make you do. But due to the trailers, everyone had the wrong mindset and didn't shed a single tear thruout!!
To me a thriller is suposed to make you nervous and make you jump at places were(in your head) you are shure that you will get scared and then feel stupid that you fell for the trick. But this movie is 90% Drama and only 10% action!
Although it doesn't give what you expected, what it does give is a good, smart, and compeling plot that is bound to give you yawn occasionally but then reveal a piece of information that will keep you in your seat a little while longer untill you get bored again. But then it jerks you back in with some fast movement and inmaculous acting.
In my opinion the acting is really worthy of at least another oscar nom. for both Penn and Kidman. I haven't seen a movie with Penn before but he just looks like an oscar bub from his head to his toes and from his tears to his smiles, a very good actor straight up. But Kidman is an entirely diffrent story, she acts so well that she alone generates most of the few heart thumpingness in this movie. The acting is really, really great. The story makes you wanna watch the movie again because it convinces you that their must be a cue in the film that was vital, but that you most likely missed.
FINAL SPEECH: KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS MOVIE IS A DRAMA WITH A FEW HINTS OF MILD SUSPENCE!!!!
Not a single thrill that will make you drop your popcorn. Just a few eye openers to keep you interested in the rest of the movie. ALSO: REMEMBER THE BEGINING, BUT DON'T LET IT CONVINCE YOU THAT THE REST OF THE FILM WILL BE AS EXITING AS THE INTRODUTION!!!! BEACAUSE IT'S REALLY(ONCE AGAIN)PUT INTO THE MOVIE TO WAKE YOU UP AND KEEP YOU IN YOUR SEAT. USE THIS MINDSET: "This movie is a drama and i must bring a hankie to dry my eyes and blow my nose because according to the review i just read this movie is a drama and really not scary at all" That is what you will be saying(hopfully) after reading this review. Good times and hopes to all, and remember: EXPECT TEARS NOT JUMPS!!! |
