First off all I can say is what a team Hawke and Fishburne made. Hawke played the troubled but badass cop flawlessly, and Fishburne stole the show by playing the cool and sauve gangster.
The story was pretty cool. I like the fact that in order to survive the precinct 13 cops had to team up with the criminals they are holding, one of which is the gangster Bishop(Fishburne). Roenick(Hawke) and Bishop become partners in order to survive, but the movie makes it clear several times that their partnership will end if they make it out alive and they will return to being enemies. The story also keeps you intensely engaged because you realize halfway through the movie that what ever you predict will happen, in fact won't. Oh ya, and there is a ton of action.
Acting in this movie can be explained by one word, PERFECTION! Fishburne plays such a cool and sadistic gangster, that even though he is a bad guy you still love him, (comparable to Cruise in Collateral). Hawke also gives a strong perfromance, but as a team Fishburne and Hawke will make you not want to take your eyes off the screen. The supporting cast like Leguizamo and Byrne (who plays the bad cop) add to the intense action and overall enjoyment of the movie.
Overall this movie is extremely intense, action packed, funny and more over, very suspenseful. Go and see this one. |
