I've been waiting for the remake of The Amityville Horror to come out for a couple of weeks, and I wasn't disappointed, Even though I haven't seen the original as of yet, I loved the film's storyline about a family moving into a house, whose previous tenants were murdered by one of their own, that supposed to be haunted. There were enough scary and frightening scenes to satisfy my appetite for some horror. In addition, I loved the film's 70's look as well as the retro fashion.
My only somewhat disappointment was the performance of Ryan Reylonds. He did a solid job as Mr. Lutz in the film but, in some scenes, he seems to acted like some of his comedic characters from his previous films. But, overall, I thought his did a solid job in the movie.
This film wasn't just as good as the remakes of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Dawn of the Dead, it was better than those films. It makes you not want to live in a haunted house.
I give this film three and a half stars out of four. |
