White Noise is a decent movie, though it lacks in some key areas that far remove it from 4.0 status.
While the acting and visuals are pretty good, the story and direction are clouded with too much interference. A better explanation of how the messages were being received with the equipment and a little more background on EVP would really help the skeptical audience member believe in this phenomena and become more absorbed in the film.
The first third of the movie is well done except for the lack of explanation as stated above. The middle third of the film kind of stumbles around, tripping over itself and gaining little ground as we watch Keaton stare at the T.V. And just when the movie looks like it is going down hill for good, it picks up the pace and things start coming together. The movie grabs you in once more, tantalizing your senses, making you jump, and creeping you out, only to spit you back out with a not-so-climactic ending.
Overall, it wasn't a bad movie. I just thought some things could have been explained better, it was a little slow and monotonous in the middle, and the ending fell a little short...B-
