I found the movie to be very good.
Being a big fan of Chinese movies, Hero and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, this definately isn't a cheap carbon copy.
The story is unique and becomes deeper as the movie evolves.
The cinematography is amazing, i found myself paying more attention to the scenery and enjoying myself in the directors usage of it then the dialogue
I found the bamboo forest and the snow plain scenes to be unforgettable... I agree with the NYtimes critic that the two will be a topic for future film student discussion
The love story became more intense as the story went on and brought up the scandalous ideal of how love can be impermanent...
The rest of the story definately isn't the most original, nor is the acting amazing throughout, but does have its moments. The impossible action scenes are what make wuxia fun! So boo on anyone who thinks its comic book like..because thats the point.
