Hitch is a great movie to take your significant other to see as the light-hearted comedy delivers lots of laughs and funny moments all in the name of love.
Will Smith is well.. himself in terms of the performance in the movie - funny, women will find him charming and sexy, etc. I felt there was good chemistry in the movie between the characters of Smith and James as well as Smith and Mendes. In my opinion (and my wife's as well) the best performance in the film goes to Kevin James.
A lot of critics both professional and otherwise have given mixed reviews because they have done just that - nitpicking at the story, the writing, or some other aspect of the film. The best way to enjoy this movie is to go to see it without over-analyzing it. It's a date movie, it's a chick flick, it's great for Valentine's Day weekend - pick your cliche. Hitch is all of the aforementioned and thus comes recommended as the movie to go see this weekend. |
