Cameron Bright plays a young boy, named Sean, who claims to be the late husband of Anna (Nicole Kidman). He appears on her doorstep the night of her engagement party. Never having gotten over the death of her first husband, Anna willingly starts to believe that Sean is indeed her dead Sean reincarnated. Sure, the story sounds interesting, but the movie is not. There are long pauses with screen shots of various members of the cast staring at the camera blanklym seemingly deep in thought, but without any dialogue to actually give any clue as to what is actually running through their minds. Other portions of the film include an entirely unnecessary sex scene, the little boy climbing into the bathtub with his "wife" (who strangely never tries to stop him), and a cast of actors and actresses almost completely devoid of emotion. Birth was on my list of "to see" movies, but I wish I hadn't. I suppose I am just lucky enough to work at a theatre and have gotten in for free. |
