If you're reading this review and are unsure about seeing this movie, perhaps my review will help you decide.
If you're younger than 32, chances are you are not going to appreciate this movie, especially if you have a particulary lower IQ or your attention span at movies in general can best be maintained with an explosion or special effect taking place every other minute or so.
I saw this film and can say hands down this is one of the finest films I've seen in years--I see a lot of movies. The writing is nearly flawless; the directing and acting are more than Oscar-worthy.
This is a film for mature audiences only. I am reading through some of these reviews on here and cannot believe that intelligent people can dismiss this film with anything less than an A- rating. Some have complained this film is depressing and even boring. Come on. I would hate to know what these same whiners consider to be a good film.
"Sideways" is both funny and touching. I am predicting Oscar nods here. How can one not like these characters and empathize with their issues. Most of us know or have known people exactly like these charcters. This movie gives me hope in film as an art form. "Sideways" is a perfect example of why I see movies.
By the end I was amused but I was also left speechless by the poignant and touching conclusion.
Thank you Alexander Payne.
