Enjoyable

Linney, as always, is excellent. Grace is adorable and appealing. Perfect chemistry. Unlike some films about older/younger relationships, there is nothing cringeworthy in their scenes together.
Suprisingly funny and sad at times.
I like Rudd, Byrne, & Hardin but felt that none were used to great affect. There were subplots involving them that went nowhere.
The deleted scenes gave more of a fantasy/otherwordly feel. Without them, the Linney character seems a bit more desperate; which isn't a bad thing. It helps to explain her decisions throughout the film.
My only real critisism is that in the end I wanted Linney's character to embrace and accept the passion of the relationship, knowing that it probably wouldn't last forever, just as it didn't with her first love. |
