Finally a Comedy that's isn't afraid to be itself!. There's a comedy (call it Gallows Humor?) to ALL Zombie films about the absurdity of it all and capturing that isn't alwaya as easy as one might think. This film delivers delivers on soo many levels it really gives a Jolt of real Life to a genre that like it's prime protagonists was basicly dead. I was soo sublimely low-tech and simplistic in it's approach yet yeilds such a comedy harvest it makes a avid film goer wonder what the Big Budget Sclock-fests try soo hard!.
This film is a U.K. import and I can't imagine how this film looked as a script but, I'm glad that it maintains a fresh original style that could've never happened in Hollywood.
Our hero is a common man (much like Peter Gibbons in "Office Space") who's clearly oblivious to the signs that the Zombie infection has already started from the start of the film is really a likeable guy. This film is really about respecting yourself, your girlfriend, and your best friend....with Zombies!. As strange as it sounds there are some honest touches of Humanity and REAL comedy at mined from those relationships.
There is NO Nudity but plenty of gore and some of it's actually funny but, I don't wanna give anything away. This is easily a Horror Classic!!! Thou it's not really scarey it's violent but, in a Cartoonish Video Game way.
For fans of BBC America there's noteable cameos by several actors from "The Office" and Bill Nihly has fun couple of scenes. It must be said that ED, our Hero's best buddy and sidekick really steals the movie!. If I was a wealthy as Bill Gates I'd buy everyone who reads this review a FREE ticket just so they'd see it!. It reaffirms my faith in Indie-Arthouse cinema. Hell, watch it for the humorous use of the 80's urban rap single "White Lines".
