I had no intentions of seeing another Cameron Diaz movie that I was sure was just going to disappoint and annoy me. However I had a free night, and there was a sneak peek so I decided to go ahead and head to the theatre. I got to the theatre and there was a good sized line which lead to a full theatre. Granted, they were 90% women and it is likely not a guys kinda movie though if you can stick it through the first half you will get to see Diaz in swimwear.
The first half of the movie was slow but entertaining. My feelings were pretty mixed at this point. The two main characters didn't have too many redeeming qualities at this stage of the film. And then comes Shirley McClaine whose role is small and yet well played. At this point the movie becomes a sheer joy. I don't often recommend movies because I am pretty easily entertained by even fairly bad movies. I strongly recommend this movie, especially for sisters who drive each other crazy but still can not be separated. Be not afraid of Cameron Diaz schmaltz! |
