In her Shoes is a movie that chronicilizes the rocky relationship between two typically opposite sisters. It is the classic story of the dumb beautiful blonde vs. the less attractive brainy brunette and the bond that holds their relationship together. The movie is enjoyable entertainment that will make you laugh, scream ("'Oh no she did not!'"), cry, and applaud all of the characters as they develop throughout the film. The acting is solid, the dialogue is great and the chemistry between Cameron Diaz and Toni Collette is unbelievable. But the true contributing and under-used delight in this movie is [not surprisingly] Shirley MacClaine. She is a true gem who effortlessly takes a movie watcher from one emotional wave to another. Her emotional transitions are seemless and believable. The additional cast holds their own and the plot does not contain any major surprises but, the entire telling of this particular story is in the resolution of the problem, not the occurence. |
