This is better than "De-Lovely", but not much.

Kevin Spacey is ALWAYS good as an actor, always, but I'm beginning to question his choices as the producer and director he also is. Kevin Spacey uses prosthetics here (a fake nose, brow area and upper eye lids), which is fine and his choice and his right. Kate Bosworth does a good Sandra Dee. Greta Scacchi (as Sandra Dee's mother) is good (and I hope that's aging make-up because if she really looks THAT old now, then she has aged faster than my eyes have ever seen any person age in my entire life -- it's not gray hair, it's her skin -- extreme wrinkles and creases). John Goodman is, as always, John Goodman. It's a mediocre movie, even for a bio-pic. But fans of Bobby Darin should appreciate this movie much in the same way that fans of the BOOK version of Stephen King's "The Shining" appreciated Kubrick's movie version. Nah, just kidding. They won't like it, but they'll feel less vehement about it than that. And I was unhappy that the song "If I Was A Carpenter" isn't included in this movie, which is my favorite of Darin's songs and the very BEST recording/version that has ever been made of that song. I was waiting and waiting for "If I Was A Carpenter" and they just didn't include it in this movie.
