I saw Proof before I knew anything about it, read a review, or heard about the play. Although, most of the comments I've heard since, don't think the movie comes up to the quality of the play, as a fresh viewer I found it quite compelling, and Paltrow's performance as good as it gets, and she's great. I heard later, that her own father had died just before the film was made, and in retrospect I can imagine that it must have had a profound effect on her feeling the weight of the role |
