This movie is a lot of fun. Is it Citizen Kane? no. Is it even Singing in the Rain? No.
But the cast is charming, the songs are fun.
It feels like... A sixties Disney version of a Bollywood movie. (and I mean that in a good way.) A great, unpretentious, and fun two hours.
It amazes me that so many of these critics attacked this film with such furious, geniune venom -- and yet they doted on that pretentious, annoying and charmless Moulin Rouge, (to me, Moulin Rouge felt like getting hit in the face with a Superbowl commercial for two hours.)
Go figure. |
