Why Bush is doomed, and Moore is a hero

Merriam Webster defines "liberal" as "marked by generosity...associated with principles of personal especially economic freedom".

It thus requires psychological analyses of Bush supporters to understand why "liberal" is deemed a slur. The virulent hatred Moore's superb film has already generated typifies the muderous, divisive antagonism Bush has engendered. This alone would disqualify him from his present job.

But this film goes further to demonstrate that the very reason Bush is an unfit President for America is that he is woefully un-American. "Life, Liberty..." is a clearly "liberal" underpinning to the values and systems that made America great. His PATRIOT act pollutes all notions of American liberty by proclaiming a police state and an unaccountable President, and reversing the noble provisions of the Amendments to the Constitution.

Most of these Amendments (such as the right to trial by jury, the requirement to demonstrate probable cause and protection from unreasonable search and seizure and detention without trial)were made to prevent the sort of America Bush has created. From Guantanemo to CIA and FBI cyberpolicing, Bush has created a replica of the Soviet Evil empire so many paatriots died to defeat.

By snubbing the U.N., he shows contempt for the principle of international consensus. With the PATRIOT act, he demonstrates disdain for the individual liberties of his fellow Americans. By aggressively invading Iraq without justification, he proves his contempt for both American and Iraqi lives, and the concept of national sovereignty. This arrogant bullying directly inspired the prisoner torture scandals at Abu Ghraib.

This movie demonstrates Bush's incompetence in classic satirical style- poignant humour as a tool to make a trenchant point. It succeeds magnificiently. It is impossible to deny the film's power, or its central theme. Opponents can only mindlessly execrate it, as some have done.

The draft-dodging Bush is a synthetic hero trampling on what it means to be American. Moore is the genuine article, reminding us what that is, and why we have forgotten.
