First of all: I love period pieces. This movie had a lot of great qualities: beautiful costumes, great acting, but it was so choppy and confusing that unless you've read the novel, you likely won't enjoy it. Not a single person filing out of the theatre was raving on how good it was, in fact, several people were wondering if they could actually get a refund. You could tell Reese was pregnant through the entire film, and although the movie spans several years, the only one who ever seems to age is Ryhs Ifans character, and the children, who grow to be seemingly the same age as their mothers. This movie could have been great, if a little more care had been taken when putting it together. It gets lost in itself. |
