I thought this movie was amazing. I think it's great that a movie like this has finally been made. It's a great discussion starter and it brings up a lot of issues that normally go overlooked in run-of-the-mill public discourse.
I've seen a lot of comments about how long the movie is, but I think it's understandable. The movie is jam packed with information and IS missing quite a few things (both supportive and unsupportive of its message) if you know what to look for. Seeing as how this is basically a movie about the entire world, though, that's to be expected. I was lucky enough to see this movie at a film festival and one of the film makers answered questions afterwards. She explained that they cut this movie down from something like 700 hours of footage. That's a lot by anyones standards, so obviously some things had to be cut in the interest of time.
At any rate, whatever your political beliefs or your ideas about business or capitalism, I seriously recommend you see this movie. It's got some important things to say and it just might make you smarter. The psychological profile of the corporate "person" (which is how corporations are legally recognized) as a psychopath is brillaint.
Plus, Howard Zinn is in it ... what more do you need? |
