Many people think this movie is great. I tend to agree. I have read a few reviews from people that have ripped it apart also. Come on people... know what you going to see so you can be fair with your judgement. This was an adaptation... the word is fairly self explanatory. This movie is the closest to any comic book that I can recall. If you haven't read Miller's great works including Sin City before seeing it, you've missing out. Cell for cell, this movie mimicked the source.
First of all, the visuals are stark and stoic just like the books. Sin City was written in a Film Noir style. In Noir the characters are gritty, the women suductive, the streets dark and sinister and the plot a downward spiral. So to expect acting and plot development of a movie similar to Sideways means that you're completely missing the point. Sin City is a foused style of storytelling and visualiztion.
If you know the material or at least from the trailers are able to grasp the premise than you will really enjoy this movie. It is extraordinary on many levels, and I'm dissapointed to see negativity due to negligance.... |
