I thought Dear Frankie was one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. Quiet but unsentimental and dealing with profound emotional wounds, it's a very human expression of love, loss and the struggle to make life better. Emily Mortimer is positively luminous as the mother and Gerard Butler is hauntingly powerful as "The Stranger", while Jack McElhone is a stunningly talented child actor. I didn't just like this movie, I loved it, and I felt it. It's a great work. |
