Fast-past, New York reporter, is sent 'up North' to a small fishing village to report on a proposed dam to be set in place by the Government of Ontario & which would, in effect,
eventually kill off the salmon reserves. To obtain her story, she is 'paired-off' with a loner who hates having a reporter (& a woman at that) on his boat. However, through unseen tribulation, they eventually fall in love.
Their love story hangs in the balance for a while - each uncompromising in their own way. Then Edith (our heroine) makes the Govt. of Ontario 'see the light', through her article.
John & she get married, at last.
A story made all the more poignant because it's based on a true story. |
