reminiscent of Toshiro Mifune's Samurai trilogy
by Chris (movies profile)
Oct 7, 2005
This movie is more a human drama than it is a samurai movie. A cloud of despair lingers throughout the entire movie, yet the main characters somehow maintain optimism. I'm sure it portrays an accurate feeling of the time in which the movie is set. I just can't imagine how they did it, day to day. Anyway, really good, but really sad. The swordplay that does occur is short, but VERY realistic and high quality... nothing flashy, no people flying around. Kinda refreshing, actually. |
